All along, Darcy Regier said this season was about placing his bets. He could have stocked up on defensemen, but it meant leaving his injury-plagued group of forwards and goaltending woefully thin. He could have added more skill up front, but the Buffalo Sabres would have been short from the blue line to goal line. |

TORONTO - Things are going so badly for the Buffalo Sabres that their remaining co-captain became so sick he couldn't leave the dressing room. The Sabres are so thin from injury and illness that a player who made his NHL debut this season was on each of the four forward lines. |
