Eagles get defensive - 3/4/2007
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - For all the talk about Niagara's offensive style, the Purple Eagles have been playing stellar defense for more than a month. So they were offended when they heard that Rider forward Jason Thompson said late Friday night he was happy to play Niagara because it doesn't defend that well. Big mistake. |

 Loyola coach Jimmy Patsos coached Canisius' Darnell Wilson on the MAAC all-star team's 2005 tour of China and has always been impressed by the senior forward in subsequent meetings. Said Patsos: "I love Darnell. He's going to be a good player overseas, a good pro. I'm certainly going to give several people I know some calls. I want that kid to play." |

NU hockey clinches title - 3/3/2007

Niagara ties Robert Morris in home finale - 2/25/2007
Niagara's men's hockey team didn't win, but it remained in position to clinch the College Hockey America regular-season crown. The Purple Eagles skated to a 3-3 tie against Robert Morris in their final home game of the season. With the tie, Niagara finished the year as the only team in the nation with an undefeated mark at home (12-0-2). |

Once in a while, it would be nice for Anthony Solomon to admit the obvious. After Wednesday's 83-44 annihilation at Massachusetts, the St. Bonaventure coach should have gone on his postgame radio show and said the no-show from front-liners like Michael Lee, Paul Williams and Tyler Relph was unacceptable. Instead, Solomon tried to gush about the four points scored by little-used center Ivan Kovacevic as some sort of beacon of hope. Please. |

Niagara making strong final run - 2/23/2007
The deck sure seemed stacked against Niagara when it started the season 1-6. Now the talk centers around trying to finish as high as possible in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. |
