Buffalo to open drop-off sites to hold teens who violate curfew

Buffalo's youth curfew has been on the books for nearly 15 years, but not often enforced.
Mayor Byron W. Brown today announced that sites are being found where teens violating the curfew can be dropped off. This will make it easier for police officers to keep youngsters younger than 17 off the streets between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays and between midnight and 5 a.m. on weekends, he said.
Modeled after programs in Philadelphia and Boston, Buffalo is partnering with a community agency to create the youth drop-off sites. The first center will be located at the Edward Saunders Community Center at 2777 Bailey Ave.
