This savory squash side dish livens up holiday meals

Getting ready for the holidays:

Sherried Squash


2 acorn squash


Butter


Salt and pepper to taste


2 tablespoons brown sugar


1 tablespoon grated orange zest


4 tablespoons sherry
Slice squash in half; remove the seeds and fiber and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper.

Place on baking sheets and bake in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes.

Sprinkle each half with sugar, orange zest and wine. Dot with butter. Bake another 15 minutes and serve bubbling hot. Makes 4 servings.
